- Zelia ZZ TAN 谭之卓 for City Contemporary Dance Company
- September 9, 2022 – November 9, 2022: City Contemporary Dance Company in Hong Kong will present Accelerating Dimension, a new work by Zelia ZZ TAN 谭之卓 (female) that “explores motion through a variety of physical and virtual dimensions.”
- Stephanie Martinez, Victoria Marks, and Charissa Barton for the New Dance Partners: Festival of Contemporary and Modern Dance
- September 16, 2022 – September 17, 2022: the New Dance Partners: Festival of contemporary and modern dance will present four world premiere works featuring a choreographer working with one of four local professional dance companies.
- Stephanie Martinez (female) will create a work for Kansas City Ballet, Victoria Marks (female) will create a piece for Störling Dance Theater, Charissa Barton (female) will create a piece for Wylliams/Henry Contemporary Dance Company, and Bryan Arias (male) will create a work for the Owen/Cox Dance Group
- Lauren Lovette for the Paul Taylor Dance Company Gala
- November 2, 2022: Paul Taylor Dance Company will present their Benefactor Gala, which will feature a new work by the company’s Resident Choreographer Lauren Lovette (female).
- Sidra Bell for the Five Moons Dance Festival
- September 11, 2022: the Five Moons Dance Festival was created to honor the legacies, courage, and perseverance of five Native American ballerinas with ties to Oklahoma. The festival will feature “artists from the American Indian community, OU School of Dance, Tulsa Ballet II, Oklahoma City Ballet” and a new work by Sidra Bell (female).

- March 9, 2023 – March 26, 2023 Carolina Ballet will present Mozart: Symphony No. 40, a triple bill featuring a world premiere work by Carolina Ballet Resident Choreographer Amy Hall Garner (female) alongside works by Lynne Taylor-Corbett (female) and George Balanchine (male).
- Jennifer Archibald for Richmond Ballet – Program: Studio Two
- November 1, 2022 – November 6, 2022: Richmond Ballet will present Studio Two, a double bill featuring a world premiere work by Jennifer Archibald (female) alongside a work by Jerome Robbins (male).

- Amy Hall Garner starts off Carolina Ballet’s 2022/2023 Season as Resident Choreographer
- June 24, 2022: Carolina Ballet announced through its social media that Amy Hall Garner (female) has been named resident choreographer for the 2022/2023 season. Garner’s works will be featured throughout the season beginning August 26, 2022, at the company’s Choreographers Spotlight Series event.
- Los Angeles Ballet Announces new Artistic Director
- August 24, 2022: the Los Angeles Ballet announced that Melissa Barak (female) would succeed Thordal Christensen (male) and Colleen Neary (female) as the company’s artistic director. Barak is the “first solo artistic director in the company’s history.”
- English National Ballet Announces new Artistic Director
- August 24, 2022: English National Ballet announced that Aaron S. Watkin (male) will succeed Tamara Rojo (female) as the company’s artistic director effective August 2023. This is a female-to-male transition.
- Nashville Ballet Announces new Artistic Director & CEO
- August 25, 2022: Nashville Ballet announced that effective June 1, 2023, current Associate Artistic Director Nick Mullikin (male) will succeed Paul Vasterling (male) as the company’s Artistic Director. The company also announced that Nick Mullikin has been named the company’s CEO effective August 26, 2022.
- Mullikin will continue in his role as Associate Artistic Director and add the role of CEO effective as of 8/26/22, he will transition to his new Artistic Director role and keep the role of CEO effective June 2023.
- The Joyce Theater Names new Director of Programming
- August 17, 2022: The Joyce Theater announced that Danni Gee (female) will succeed Aaron Mattocks (male) as Director of Programming for the theater. This is a male-to-female transition.

- August 24, 2022: Gibney Dance Center announced the 6 recipients of the Dance In Process Residency. The recipients include 3 female artists: Vangeline (female), Kate Watson-Wallace (female), and Director’s DiP/AiR Recipient Sidra Bell (female). The other 3 recipients are Ori Flomin (male), Antonio Ramos (male), and Stacy Matthew Spence (male).
- Solange Knowles Commissioned by New York City Ballet
- Solange Knowles (female) has been commissioned by New York City Ballet (NYCB) to create an original score for Gianna Reisen’s world premiere choreography at the company’s Fall Fashion Gala. Knowles is the first Black woman to be commissioned by NYCB to compose an original score.

DANCE DATA PROJECT® EXAMINES EQUITY IN LEADERSHIP AND PROGRAMMING AT U.S. DANCE VENUES
/0 Comments/in DDP Announcements/by dancedataDance Data Project® (DDP) today released its second Dance Venue Leadership & Programming Report. The 2022 Report examines 73 leading ballet/classically inspired dance performance venues in the United States to provide a quantitative analysis of the organizations’ programming and leadership, an increase from 50 venues studied in 2020. This Report expands on DDP’s 2020 Dance Venue Leadership & Programming Report that was produced in collaboration with the Center for Equity, Gender, and Leadership (EGAL) at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business.

- August 9, 2022: The BAAND Together Dance Festival at Lincoln Center in New York City will present a program featuring a world premiere commission by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa (female) alongside works by Alvin Ailey (male), Michelle Manzanales (female), Helen Pickett (female), Ulysses Dove (male), and Jessica Lang (female).
- Tiffany Rea-Fisher for Dance Theater of Harlem
- October 7, 2022 – October 8, 2022: Dance Theater of Harlem will present Sounds of Hazel: The Hazel Scott Ballet, a world premiere work by Tiffany Rea-Fisher. This work focuses on the music and memory of Hazel Scott, an important figure in the history of Jazz music. The production has an all-women creative team, from the choreographer (Rea-Fisher) to Erica Lewis-Blunt the composer for the production.
