- August 16, 2022 – August 20, 2022: The National Ballet of Canada will present Sharing the Stage, a mixed bill featuring excerpts of company repertoire alongside “micro-commissions” from Natasha Powell (female) and Ethan Colangelo (male).

- Toledo Ballet Appoints New Artistic Director
- Effective July 21, 2022: Toledo Ballet has announced the appointment of Eric Otto (male) as the new artistic director and head of curriculum of the company. Otto succeeds Lisa Mayer-Lang (female) whose departure was announced on January 4, 2022. This is a female-to-male transition.
- Yorkshire Ballet Seminars Appoints New Artistic Director
- July 2, 2022: Yorkshire Ballet Seminars, “The UK’s first residential summer school,” announced Cira Robinson (female) will take the reins of the school effective December 2022. Robinson succeeds Iain Mackay (male). This is a male-to-female transition.

DANCE DATA PROJECT® FINDINGS SHOW GENDER-BASED WAGE AND OPPORTUNITY GAP IN DANCE LEADERSHIP
/0 Comments/in DDP Announcements/by dancedataDance Data Project® (DDP) today released its fourth annual Artistic and Executive Leadership Report, tripling the scope of our inaugural Report of this kind to survey 150 total U.S. ballet companies. DDP’s study demonstrates the persistence of a glaring gender-based pay and opportunity gap:
-Only 30% of Artistic Directors at the Largest 50 ballet companies in the United States are women
-Over the past five years, the Largest 50 ballet companies have had more than twice as many men than women in the role of Artistic Director
-In 2018, there were 15 female and 34 male Artistic Directors
-In 2019, there were 13 female and 33 male Artistic Directors
-In 2020, there were 14 female and 33 male Artistic Directors
-In 2021, there were 15 female and 35 male Artistic Directors
-In 2022, there are 15 female and 35 male Artistic Directors

- Bridget Breiner, Yuka Oishi, Danielle Rowe, and Claudia Schreier for San Francisco Ballet – Program: Next@90
- January 20, 2023 – February 11, 2022: San Francisco Ballet will present Next@90, a program featuring nine world premiere works from Nicolas Blanc (male), Bridget Breiner (female), Robert Garland (male), Benjamin Millepied (male), Yuka Oishi (female0, Yuri Possokhov (male), Jamar Roberts (male), Danielle Rowe (female), and Claudia Schreier (female). Four of the nine world premieres will be choreographed by women.
- Claudia Schreier for Atlanta Ballet – Program: Significant Others
- May 12, 2023 – May 14, 2023: Atlanta Ballet will present Significant Others, a triple bill featuring new works by Claudia Schreier (female), and Remi Wörtmeyer (male), alongside a work by Ben Stevenson (male).

- Jodie Gates to take the reins of Cincinnati Ballet & Cincinnati Ballet Otto M. Budig Academy
- Effective August 1, 2022: Jodie Gates (female) will begin her tenure as the Artistic Director of the Cincinnati Ballet and Cincinnati Ballet Otto M. Budig Academy. Gates succeeds Victoria Morgan (female), who will retire after 25 years with the company. This is a female to female transition.

This award “is given to U.S. artists who, as described by the renowned actress Lillian Gish, have made “an outstanding contribution to the beauty of the world” and to people’s “understanding and enjoyment of life.””

- The executive director of The Australian Ballet, Libby Christie (female), will step down from her position at the end of 2022. Christie held the position of Executive Director for nine years. The Australian Ballet has not announced her successor.

- Gibney Dance POP: Performance Opportunity Project
- Gibney Dance has announced that new theater dates in conjunction with their Performance Opportunity Project have opened up.
- This project “enables non-profit companies and individual dance artists to self-produce performances and showings at Gibney. Artists can participate in POP through Performances, Showings, or Open Rehearsals. POP Performances offer a three-night run in The Theater (Studio H) at 280 Broadway.”

- Musical Composition and Choreography winners of the MadeBy Competition

- English National Ballet School Announced Amanda Skoog as new Executive Director
- Effective August 31, 2022, English National Ballet School has announced that Amanda Skoog (female) will succeed Jon Singleton (male) as executive director of the school. Singleton stepped down January 31, 2022 and Maggie Morris (female) has acted as Interim Executive Director from February 2022 – July 2022.

- July 3, 2022: The Keir Choreographic Award winners were announced. This program provides a “fully paid opportunity for eight independent Australian artists to develop and share works with audiences and an esteemed jury of dance luminaries” as well as substantial monetary prizes for the winners. Tra Mi Dinh (female) was awarded the Keir Choreographic Award and $50,000, while Jenni Large was awarded the People’s Choice Award and $10,000
