Happening This Week

• Lauren Lovette for Leipzig Ballet – Program: Romeo and Julia
  • October 26, 2024 – December 28, 2024:  Leipzig Ballet will present Romeo and Julia, An evening-length ballet choreographed by Lauren Lovette (female).
• Helen Pickett for American Ballet Theatre – Program: Crime and Punishment
  • October 30, 2024 – November 3, 2024:  American Ballet Theatre will present Crime and Punishment, a new evening-length ballet by Helen Pickett (female) featuring music by Isobel Waller-Bridge (female), sets and costumes by Soutra Gilmour (female), lighting design by Jennifer Tipton (female), and video design by Tal Yarden (male).
• Ching Ching Wong for Louisville Ballet – Program: Triple Take
  • November 1, 2024 – November 3, 2024:  Louisville Ballet will present Triple Take, a program featuring new works by Ching Ching Wong (female),  Harald Uwe Kern (male), and Adam Hougland (male). 
• Micaela Taylor, Cherice Barton, Beth Twigs, and Tina Kay Bohnstedt for Vitacca Ballet Program: FEM4
  • November 1, 2024 – November 3, 2024:  Vitacca Ballet will present FEM4, a program featuring world premiere works by Micaela Taylor (female), Cherice Barton (female), Beth Twigs (female), and Tina Kay Bohnstedt (female).
• Pam Tanowitz for the Royal Ballet – Program: Encounters: Four Contemporary Ballets
  • October 22, 2024 – November 16, 2024: The Royal Ballet will present Encounters: Four Contemporary Ballets, a program featuring new works by Pam Tanowitz (female), and Joseph Toonga (male), alongside works by Kyle Abraham (male) and, Crystal Pite (female).
• Lia Cirio for Boston Ballet – Program: Fall Experience
  • October 24, 2024 – November 15, 2024:  Boston Ballet will present Fall Experience, A program featuring a world premiere work by Lia Cirio (female) alongside works by Crystal Pite (female), Sabrina Matthews (female), and Jorma Elo (male)
• Madeline Squire for Scottish Ballet Tour 
  • October 16, 2024 – November 7, 2024:  the Scottish Ballet will be on tour with a program featuring a world premiere work by Madeline Squire (female), alongside works by Cayetano Soto (male), Sophie Laplane (female), and Peter Darrel (male).
• Mari Carrasco for Royal Swedish Ballet – Program: Forever
  • September 27, 2024 – November 9, 2024:  the Royal Swedish Ballet will present Forever, a new work by Mari Carrasco (female). 
• Kirsten Isenberg and Michelle Reid for Cape Ballet Africa – Program: Salt
  • September 21, 2024 – November 15, 2024:  Cape Ballet Africa will present its inaugural program, Salt, featuring new works by Kirsten Isenberg (female), Michelle Reid (female), and Mthuthuzeli November (male).

Female Choreography Commissions, World Premieres, and Programming

• Sharon Eyal for Staatsballett Berlin – Program: SAABA/Minus 16
  • October 25, 2024 – November 29, 2024:  Staatsballet Berlin will present SAABA/Minus 16, a program featuring a new work by Sharon Eyal (female) alongside a work by Ohad Naharin (male).
• Lucy Merz for Indianapolis Ballet – Program: New Works
  • November 7, 2024 – November 10, 2024:  Indianapolis Ballet will present New Works, a program featuring new works by Lucy Merz (female), and Reece Conrad (male).

• Joffrey Ballet Announces Interim Rehearsal Director
  • Joffrey Ballet has announced that Christine Rocas (female) has been appointed as Interim Rehearsal Director. Rocas recently retired as a dancer for the company.
• BODYTRAFFIC Announces Additional Artistic and Executive Leadership
  • On October 23, 2024:  BODYTRAFFIC announced that Trey McIntyre (male) has been appointed as Creative Partner, Lucinda Lent (female) has been appointed as an Executive Consultant, and Joan Rodriguez (male) and Katie Garcia (female) have been appointed as Rehearsal Directors for the company. 
• The Washington Ballet Announces Interim Executive Director
  • On October 24, 2024:  The Washington Ballet announced that Jason Palmquist (male) has been appointed as Interim Executive Director of the company. Palmquist succeeds Karen Shepherd (female) who departed the company in September 2024.
