Female Choreography Commissions, World Premieres, and Programming

  • Lily Wills, Melisa Guilliams, and Elle Macy for Pacific Northwest Ballet – Program: Next Step
    • On June 4, 2024:  Pacific Northwest Ballet will present Next Step, A program featuring premieres by Lily Wills (female), Noah Martzall (male), Luca Anaya (male), Melisa Guilliams (female), and co-choreographers Elle Macy (female) & Dylan Wald (male) and Amanda Morgan (female) & Christopher D’Ariano (male). These works are set on PNB School upper-division students.
  • Emma Cianchi at Jacob’s Pillow 
    • On July 31, 2024:  Emma Cianchi (female) and her company will make her Jacob’s Pillow debut with the world premiere of Il mare che ci unisce.
  • Andrea Peña for Ballet BC – Program: Zenith
    • March 6, 2025 – March 8, 2025:  Ballet BC will present Zenith, a program featuring world premiere works by Andrea Peña (female), and Fernando Hernando Magadan (male) alongside a work by Johan Inger (male). 
  • Bobbi Jene Smith for Ballet BC – Program: Dusk
    • May 8, 2025 – May 10, 2025:  Ballet BC will present Dusk, a program featuring world premiere works by choreographic duo Bobbi Jene Smith (female) and Or Schraiber (male), and Medhi Walerski (male), alongside a work by Marco Goecke (male).

  • Orlando Ballet Announces New School Director 
    • On May 13, 2024:  Orlando Ballet announced that Christopher Alloways-Ramsey (male) has been appointed as the new Director of the Orlando Ballet School. Alloways-Ramsey succeeds Phillip Broomhead (male) in the position.
