• Penny Saunders for Parsons Dance at the Joyce
  • May 14, 2024 – May 25, 2024:  Parsons Dance will be in residence at the Joyce, and will be presenting a program featuring world premiere works by Penny Saunders (female), David Parsons (male), and Jamar Roberts (male)
• Sidra Bell for Gibney Presents 2023/2024
  • May 16, 2024 – May 18, 2024:  Gibney Presents 2023/2024 will present Sidra Bell Dance New York in a program featuring a world premiere work by Gibney’s inaugural Artist-in-Residence, Sidra Bell (female).
• Marie Bourgeois for Nederlands Dans Theatre (NDT 1) – Program: Do Not Run Fly
  • May 16, 2024 – June 8, 2024:  Nederlands Dans Theatre (NDT 1) will present Do Not Run Fly, a triple bill program featuring world premiere works by Marie Bourgeois (female) & Yoann Bourgeois (male), and Marcos Morau (male) alongside a work by Crystal Pite (female).
• Andrea Schermoly for Sacramento Ballet – Program: Innovations
  • May 17, 2024 – May 19, 2025:  Sacramento Ballet will present Innovations, a world premiere work by Andrea Schermoly (female), alongside a work by Val Caniparoli (male) and another piece, yet to be announced.
• Julia Antinozzi and Symara Sarai for Bill T. Jones Live Arts – Program: Fresh Tracks New Works
  • May 17, 2024 – May 18, 2024:  Bill T. Jones Live Arts will present Fresh Tracks New Works, a program featuring new works by Julia Antinozzi (female), Symara Sarai (female), Liony Garci (male) and Vinson Fraley (male).
• Toni Pimble for Eugene Ballet – Program: Peter Pan
  • May 17, 2024 – May 19, 2024:  Eugene Ballet will present Peter Pan, a new evening-length production by Toni Pimble (female).
• Dani Rowe and Shannon Alvis for the OBT2 Tour
  • April 20, 2024 – June 1, 2024:  Oregon Ballet Theater’s second company, OBT, 2 will present its 2024 tour featuring works by Dani Rowe (female), Shannon Alvis (female), Ben Stevenson (male) and Dominic Walsh (male).
• Amy Hall Garner for New York City Ballet – Program: Classic NYCB I
  • April 24, 2024 – June 6, 2024:  New York City Ballet will present Classic NYCB I, a program featuring world premiere works by Amy Hall Garner (female), and Justin Peck (male), alongside works by George Balanchine (male).’
• May Zarhy for Theater Chemnitz Ballet – Program: Showcase VII: Witness
  • April 25, 2024 – June 13, 2024:  Theater Chemnitz Ballet will present Showcase VII: Witness, A program featuring an evening-length work by May Zarhy (female).
• Ana Maria Lucaciu for Aalto Ballett Essen – Program: Last
  • April 13, 2024 – July 5, 2024:  Aalto Ballett Essen will present Last, a program featuring world premiere works by Ana Maria Lucaciu (female), Armen Hakobyan (male), and Ben Van Cauwenbergh (male).
• Gong Xingxing for Scapino Ballet Rotterdam – Program: Origin
  • April 7, 2024 – June 9, 2024:  Scapino Ballet Rotterdam will present Origin, a program featuring new works by Gong Xingxing (female), and Lior Tavori (male).
• Sharon Eyal and Sol León for Staatsballett Berlin – Program: 2 Chapters Love
  • December 11, 2023 – June 14, 2024:  Staatsballett Berlin will present 2 Chapters Love, A program featuring new works by Sharon Eyal (female), and Sol León (female).

 

Female Choreography Commissions, World Premieres, and Programming

• Megan Kamler for Rochester City Ballet – Program: Agua Fresca at Rochester Fringe Festival
  • September 20. 2024 – September 21, 2024:  Rochester City Ballet will present Agua Fresca at Rochester Fringe, a program featuring world premiere works by Megan Kamler (female), and Aldo Katton (male). 
• Hélène Blackburn for Ballet de l’Opéra national du Rhin – Program: Noces
  • October 3, 2024 – October 20, 2024:  Ballet de l’Opéra national du Rhin will present Noces, a program featuring a new creation by Hélène Blackburn (female) alongside a work by Bruno Bouché (male).
• Kirsten Wicklund for Opera Ballett Vlaanderen – Program: Field/Minus 16
  • November 30, 2024 – December 19. 2024:  Opera Ballett Vlaanderen will present Field/Minus 16, a program featuring a world premiere work by Kirsten Wicklund (female), alongside a work by Ohad Naharin (male). 
• Cherice Barton for Ballet Idaho – Program: Anthology
  • February 6, 2025 – February 9, 2025:  Ballet Idaho will present Anthology, A program featuring a new work by Cherice Barton (female), alongside works by Ashley Baker (female), Lar Lubovitch (male), and Alejandro Cerrudo (male).
• Shannon Rodriguez for Rochester City Ballet – Program: Visionary
  • February 21, 2025 – February 23, 2025:  Rochester City Ballet will present Visionary, A program featuring a world premiere work by Shannon Rodriguez (female) alongside works by Aldo Katton (male), and Jared Allan Brunson (male)
• Shannon Rodriguez and Megan Kamler for Rochester City Ballet – Program: Anastasia
  • May 9, 2025 – May 11, 2025:  Rochester City Ballet will present Anastasia, A new evening-length story ballet by Shannon Rodriguez (female), and Megan Kamler (female).

• Royal Danish Ballet Artistic Director Announces Plans to Step Down
  • On May 2, 2024:  The Artistic Director of the Royal Danish Ballet, Nikolaj Hübbe (male), announced that he will step down at the end of his contract. A search for his successor has been announced and the new Artistic Director will take on the role effective August 2026.

Outstanding Artists (lighting, music, tech, design, etc.)

• Sadler’s Wells Rose Prize & Bloom Prize Shortlist announced
  • Sadler’s Wells has announced the shortlist of artists in contention for the Rose Prize, a prize for established choreographers, and the Bloom Prize, a prize for emerging choreographers. Artists on the shortlist for the Rose Prize include Lia Rodrigues (female), Kyle Abraham (male), Marco da Silva Ferreira (male), and Christos Papadopoulos (male). Artists on the shortlist for the Bloom Prize include Stav Struz Boutrous (female), Leïla Ka (female), and Wang Yeu-Kwn (male).
• 2024 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway Announced
  • On May 5, 2024:  the 2024 Lucille Lortel Awards were announced. Winners for outstanding achievement Off-Broadway in choreography include Camille A. Brown (female) for her work with Hell’s Kitchen, Graciela Daniele (female) and Alex Sanchez (male) for their work with The Gardens of Anuncia, Patricia Delgado (female) and Justin Peck (male) for their work with Buena Vista Social Club, nicHi douglas (she/they/he/we) for their work with (pray), and Raja Feather Kelly (male) for his work with Teeth. 
• Participating Artists Announced for UNCSA Choreographic Institute
  • UNCSA School of Dance has announced the artists chosen for the 2024 Choreographic Institute. The chosen artists include Asia Pyron (female), Danielle Swatzie (female), Annalee Traylor (female), and Anderson Souza (male).
