  • Caili Quan for Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre – Program: Spring Mix: 5 for 55
    • April 4, 2025 – April 6, 2025: Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre will present Spring Mix: 5 for 55, A program featuring world premiere works by Caili Quan (female), and William Moore (male), alongside works by George Balanchine (male), Jorma Elo (male), and Dwight Rhoden (male).
  • Dani Rowe for Oregon Ballet Theatre – Program: Marylin
    • April 4, 2025 – April 13, 2025: Oregon Ballet Theatre will present Marylin, an evening-length world premiere work by Dani Rowe (female). The work will feature an original score by Shannon Rugani (female). Marylin is a co-production with Oregon Ballet Theatre, Tulsa Ballet, and BalletMet. 
  • Helen Pickett for the Dutch National Ballet – Program: Lady Macbeth
    • April 5, 2025 – April 22, 2025: the Dutch National Ballet will present Lady Macbeth, an evening-length premiere featuring choreography and co-direction by Helen Pickett (female) in collaboration with James Bonas (male).
  • Jessie Lee Thorne for Backhausdance 
    • On April 5, 2025: Backhausdance will present a program featuring world premiere works by Jessie Lee Thorne (female), and Bret Easterling (male) alongside works by Jennifer Backhaus (female).

Female Choreography Commissions, World Premieres, and Programming

  • Ashley Dean and Cina Espejord at The Royal Ballet’s International Draft Works 2025
    • April 9, 2025 – April 10, 2025: The Royal Ballet will present International Draft Works 2025, a program featuring “Exciting new work by emerging choreographers from around the world.” The program includes works by Ashley Dean (female) for The Royal Ballet, Cina Espejord (female) for Norwegian National Ballet,  Lars de Vos (male) for Dutch National Ballet, George Liang (male) for Northern Ballet, Emanuele Babici (male) for Stuttgart Ballet, Tumelo Lekana (male) for Joburg Ballet, Kit Holder (male) for Birmingham Royal Ballet, and Marcelino Sambe (male) for The Royal Ballet.
  • Simone Grøtte for Norwegian National Ballet – Program: FORGOTTEN
    • May 24, 2025 – May 25, 2025: Norwegian National Ballet will present FORGOTTEN, an evening-length premiere by Simone Grøtte (female).

Leadership Changes

  • National Dance Company Wales Announces New Leadership
    • On March 27, 2025: National Dance Company Wales announced that Bakani Pick-Up (male) will succeed Matthew William Robinson (male) as artistic director and joint-CEO, effective September 2025. The company also announced that David Watson (male) has been appointed Interim Executive Director and joint-CEO effective April 2025. 
  • Dance Theatre Heidelberg Announces Departure of Artistic Director
    • On March 17, 2025: Dance Theatre Heidelberg announced that Artistic Director Iván Pérez (male) will depart his role effective January 2026. No successor has been announced.
