Female Choreography Commissions, World Premieres, and Programming

  • Mackenzie King, Noelle Kayser & Ching Ching Wong for Moonwater Dance Project
    • June 28, 2024 – June 30, 2024:  Moonwater Dance Project will present Moonwater VI, a program featuring world premiere work by Mackenzie King (female) and a world premiere collaboration by Noelle Kayser (female) and Ching Ching Wong (female) alongside works by Katie Carey (female), and Jessica Miller Tomlinson (female)
  • Limón Dance Company Fall Season
    • July 12, 2024 – November 10, 2024:  Limón Dance Company will be presenting their 2024 Fall Season which will include a world premiere work by Kayla Farrish (female), alongside works by Doris Humphrey (female), and José Limón (male).
  • Dorrance Dance at the Joyce
    • July 17, 2024 – July 21, 2024:  Dorrance Dance will present a new program at the Joyce Theater. The program will feature a world premiere work by Dorrance Dance founder and Artistic Director Michelle Dorrance (female).
  • Paufve Dance at ODC State of Play Festival
    • August 1, 2024 – August 2, 2024:  Paufve Dance will present an evening-length world premiere choreographed by Randee Paufve (female) entitled Sisters, at the ODC State of Play Festival. 
  • Audrey Johnson at ODC State of Play Festival 
    • August 1, 2024 – August 4, 2024:  Audrey Johnson (female) will present the world premiere of For a Moment/No longer (working title), at the ODC State of Play Festival.   
  • Sarah Foster-Sproull for Royal New Zealand Ballet – Program: Solace
    • August 1, 2024 – August 17, 2024:  the Royal New Zealand Ballet will present Solace, a program featuring a new work by Sarah Foster-Sproull (female), alongside works by Wayne McGregor (male), and Alice Topp (female).
  • Aleisha Walker, Zhongzing Fang, and Adriana Pierce for Ballet Festival: Unite at the Joyce
    • August 13, 2024 – August 17, 2024:  Ballet Festival: Unite at the Joyce, will be presented at the Joyce Theater. This festival will feature world premiere works by Aleisha Walker (female), Adriana Pierce (female), and Zhongzing Fang (female) alongside a large program of works by George Balanchine (male), Lauren Lovette (female), Sir Kenneth Macmillan (male), Angelin Preljocaj (male), and Calvin Royal III (male) and others. 
  • Natosha Washington for Repertory Dance Theater – Program: I am
    • November 21, 2024 – November 23, 2024:  Repertory Dance Theater will present I am, an evening-length work by Natosha Washington (female). 
  • Sarah Baltzinger and Olivia Court Mesa for Scapino Ballet Rotterdam – Program: Origin 2025
    • February 12, 2025 – June 9, 2025:  Scapino Ballet Rotterdam will present Origin 2025, a program featuring world premiere works by Olivia Court Mesa (female) and choreographic duo Sarah Baltzinger (female) & Isaiah Wilson (male).

  • Richmond Ballet Hires First Executive Director
    • On June 11, 2024:  Richmond Ballet announced in a press release that Maya Erhardt (female) has been appointed as the first Executive Director of the company effective July 1, 2024. 
  • Kansas City Ballet Announces New School Director
    • On June 11, 2024:  Kansas City Ballet School announced that Oliver Till (male) will succeed Grace Holmes (female) as Director of the school effective July 1, 2024. This is a female-to-male transition. 
  • BalletMet Announces New Artistic Director
    • On June 13, 2024:  BalletMet announced that Remi Wörmeyer (male) will succeed Edwaard Liang (male) as the Artistic Director of the company. This is a male-to-male transition.
