- Michele Byrd-McPhee and Ladies of Hip-Hop for Guggenheim Works & Process Underground Uptown Dance Festival – Program: SpeakMyMind
- On January 14, 2023: Guggenheim Works & Process will present a SpeakMyMind, a work led by Michele Byrd-McPhee (female) that is described as “Part of an ongoing performance and documentary effort to represent Black women in street and club dance culture. ”
- Danielle Rowe for San Francisco Ballet – Program: next@90 Garland / Roberts / Rowe
- January 20, 2023 – February 11, 2023: San Francisco Ballet will present the first program of their festival next@90. This triple bill program features new works by Danielle Rowe (female), Robert Garland (male), and Jamar Roberts (male).

Female Choreography Commissions, World Premieres, and Programming
- Amber Hirschfield, Cecily MacDougall, & Saori Yamashita for State Street Ballet – Program: Evenings
- January 27, 2023 – January 28, 2023: State Street Ballet will present Evenings, a program featuring new works by Amber Hirschfield (female), Cecily MacDougall (female), Saori Yamashita (female), Tanner Blee (male), and Ryan Lenkey (male).
- Alexa Capareda, Teresa Chapman, Andrea Dawn Shelley & Kia Smith for Houston Contemporary Dance Company – Program: Dué
- On February 10, 2023: Houston Contemporary Dance Company will present Dué, a program featuring “6 New Commissions from 6 distinct Artists and Choreographers,” including Alexa Capareda (female), Teresa Chapman (female), Andrea Dawn Shelley (female), Kia Smith (female), Joe Celej (male), and Brandon Coleman (male).
- Dohee Lee for Gibney Presents – Program: Chilseong Saenamgut (Duringut): Ritual for Sickness
- February 23, 2023 – February 25, 2023: Gibney’s “presentation series” Gibney Presents will feature a world premiere work by Dohee Lee (female) entitled Chilseong Saenamgut (Duringut): Ritual for Sickness.

- Dance/NYC Announces New Leadership Structure
- On December 21, 2022: Dance/NYC announced a new leadership structure effective January 1, 2023. Within this new structure, Executive Director Alejandra Duque Cifuentes (female) shifts into a new role of “Strategy and Research Consultant.” Milena Luna (female) has been appointed Interim Executive Director.
- Royal New Zealand Ballet Announces Artistic Director Transition
- On January 9, 2023: Royal New Zealand Ballet announced the retirement of current Artistic Director Patricia Barker (female) effective March 2023. The company also announced that the former Artistic Director of the Australian Ballet, David McAllister (male) would step in as Interim Artistic Director while a “recruitment process” is conducted.

- Anna Segal for Cleveland Ballet
- April 21, 2023 – April 22, 2023: Cleveland Ballet will present Symphony of Life, a new work by Ilia Zhivoi (male) that features a score by composer Anna Segal (female). Hers is the first-ever commissioned score for Cleveland Ballet.
- The Museum of Contemporary Art Presents Simone Forti
- January 15, 2023 – April 2, 2023: The Museum of Contemporary art in Los Angeles, California will present an exhibit featuring the choreographic and visual artwork of Simone Forti (female). The exhibit features “work from the 1960s through to the present day, Simone Forti is an homage to a towering artist who has forever reframed the dialogue between visual art and contemporary dance.”
