Happening This Week

• Hope Boykin for Paul Taylor Dance Company at the Kennedy Center 
  • February 27, 2025 – March 1, 2025: Paul Taylor Dance Company will be in residence at the Kennedy Center presenting a program featuring a world premiere work by Hope Boykin (female), alongside works by Paul Taylor (male).
• Reija Wäre for the Finnish National Ballet – Program: Édith Piaf – La Vie en Rose
  • February 28, 2025 – May 27, 2025: the Finnish National Ballet will present Édith Piaf – La Vie en Rose, A new evening-length work with choreography by Reija Wäre (female) and costume design by Erika Turunen (female).

Female Choreography Commissions, World Premieres, and Programming

• Hallie Wilde, Victoria Bartlett, and Dani Moya for Manassas Ballet Theatre – Program: Love
  • March 7, 2025 – March 9, 2025: Manassas Ballet Theatre will present Love, a new ballet by Hallie Wilde (female), Victoria Bartlett (female, and Dani Moya (female), featuring original music by Kim Reynolds (female).
• Pegasus Contemporary Ballet and Bombshell Dance Project to present Flock
  • March 7, 2025 – March 8, 2025: Pegasus Contemporary Ballet and Bombshell Dance Project will present Flock, a new work by Emily Bernet (female), and Taylor Rodman (female).
• Cassa Pancho and Chanel DaSilva for Ballet Black – Program: Ballet Black: Shadows
  • March 13, 2025 – March 15, 2025: Ballet Black will present Ballet Black: Shadows, a program featuring new works by Cassa Pancho (female) and Chanel DaSilva (female). 
• Molly Gemerchak, Miriam-Rose LeDuc, and Rachel Schmidt for Chicago Repertory Ballet- Program: The Choreography Project
  • March 14, 2025 – March 16, 2025: Chicago Repertory Ballet will present The Choreography Project, a program featuring new works by company artists Molly Gemerchak (female), Alex Goodreau (male), Nick Hittle (male), Miriam-Rose LeDuc (female) & Rachel Schmidt (female).
• Shannon Harkins for Brooklyn Ballet – Program: Night / Life
  • March 20, 2025 – March 23, 2025: Brooklyn Ballet will present Night / Life, a program featuring world premieres by Shannon Harkins (female) and William Ervin (male), a work-in-process by Lynn Parkerson (female).
• Bobbi Jene Smith for National Ballet of Canada – Program: Procession
  • November 1, 2025 – November 8, 2025: the National Ballet of Canada will present Procession, a world premiere work by creative partners Bobbi Jene Smith (female) and Or Schraiber (male).
• Alice Topp for Houston Ballet – Program: An Evening With the Stars
  • May 28, 2026 – June 7, 2026: Houston Ballet will present An Evening With the Stars, a program featuring a world premiere by Alice Topp (female), alongside works by Stanton Welch (male) and Jerome Robbins (male).

Leadership Changes

• La Scala Announce New Ballet Director
  • On February 17, 2025: it was announced that Frédéric Olivieri (male) will succeed Manuel Legris in the position of Director of La Scala Ballet effective March 1, 2025. 
• Spectrum Dance Theater announces Co-Executive Directors
  • On February 19, 2025: Spectrum Dance Theater announced that Artistic Director Donald Byrd (male) and School Director Stephanie Guilland (female) will step into the role of Co-Executive Directors, succeeding Interim Executive Director Sharon Nyree Williams (female).
